The daily retreat program is divided into three sections. The first part of the day is a silent retreat and will include short teachings, meditations, and contemplative practices. The second part of the day will be a visit to Assisi or other sites pertaining to the life of St. Francis. The final part of the day—evening—will be the opportunity to shop at the many boutiques and to dine at a restaurant of one’s choice. There will also be a period of free time after lunch during which one can rest or stroll in the lovely gardens before departing to our pilgrimage destination. Transportation will be provided to those locations not accessible by an easy walk.

The retreat, June 23 - 30, 2019, is being held at Assisi Garden, a monastery guesthouse administered by the Padri Oblati, which is within walking distance of the town of Assisi.  Assisi Garden is a classical Umbrian structure made of “Assisi  stone” and is quite up to date, providing comfortable accommodations.  It is located in the lush Umbrian countryside and surrounded by gardens with panoramic views—a perfect setting for walking meditation. Assisi Garden is providing our group with a meditation room for our exclusive use.

As is reflected in the schedule, in addition to visiting the sacred sites and monuments of St. Francis of Assisi, we will have the opportunity to enjoy other wonderful offerings of Italian culture.  With the exception of the first day or two, evenings are on our own—eating at a restaurant of one’s choice and perhaps shopping for gifts.
